Dear Sirs/Madam
Thank you for the quick turnaround in the approval for the request to mitigate the growth of the invasive
vegetation on my property. The intial request for manual cutting along the wetlands was put in jeopardy due to
the absence of my contractor.
I am actively looking for another contractor, however, new contractors are indicating they would use a skid
steer with a significant mower in front to level the invasive vegetation. I will request that the work be
accomplished by keeping the machine on my property outside the wetlands and reach in to “mow” it.
I realize that this would require new approvals and will wait for approval to use mechanical remediation,
however, if my original contractor reappears, I would like to use the original approval for non mechanical
remediation.

Mr. Ferrara,
The Waterford Conservation Commission reviewed your proposal to cut and remove invasive vegetation
along the eastern edge of wetlands at 39 Niantic River Road at their meeting conducted on July 10, 2025.
The Commission determined that the activity as proposed is a permitted use in accordance with Section
4.1.d of the Waterford Inland Wetlands and Watercourses regulations. The approval is for manual cutting
and removal of the invasive shrubs. If other mechanical measures are proposed, an additional
authorization will be required from the Conservation Commission.
Please notify this office when the work is initiated. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact
me at 860 444-5813.
