1. Call to order: Chairlady Sanders called the Waterford Senior Citizens Commision Regular
meeting to order at 4:01 p.m.
i Established a quorum: A quorum was established
Ul. Public comment: Public comment was made by Waterford resident M. Brodrick
iv, Approval of the minutes from the February 22, 2022 meeting: Minutes were approved by A.
Collins and seconded by D. Lopes
Vv. Correspondence: Letter was sent in from Laura Perotta Senior Development Officers of the
State of Connecticut with a check for the Waterford Senior Servicas Endowment Fund.
Vi Committee Reports:
a. Budget: No comments on budget
b. Nominating Committee: Appointments to the RTM meeting on April 4, 2022
c. Transportation Sub-Committee: No comments on Transportation Sub-
Committee
d. Planned Giving Sub-Committee: No comments on Planned Giving
Vit: Director/Assistant Director Report for March 2022: Highlights included: D. Gorman (Interim Director
of Senlor Services) stated Loop Is ready to go and webpage has been updated. New programs will be
launching. Introduced new staff to commission. Reported that the budget passed and that the Senior
Center remains active.
Vill: New Business:
a. Long term program planning: committee will be established to give input on programs
offered
b. Set dates for 2022 Commission meetings: lists of dates have already been set
IX: Other Business: Endowment Fund- will be established and dates will be set to meet
First Selectman R, Brule spoke to the commission.

X: Adjournment: Motion was made to adjourn at 4:43 pm by J. Crawford and seconded by D. Lopes

Tech Program for Seniors: 20 seniors (administered by WHS)

The Board of Finance approved the Senior Services Commission budget on March 7, 2022. The
budget was presented by retired director Lisa Cappuccio and accompanied by Kathleen Pierce,
Chairwoman Carol Sanders and Commission Member Joyce Viaun. On March 28*, Interim
Director Dani Gorman attended the Board of Finance final budget hearing for final passage. The
budget will now be reviewed by the RTM on Wednesday, May 11.
Program Registrations for the current quarter - see attached
Collection / Revenues for Programs (02/01/22 - 03/28/22) = $10,157
The St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon was attended by 59 seniors.
2 Meals on Wheels Drivers were brought on-board.
3 positions were posted:
Café Manager
Office Technician
Assistant Director
Coordinated with Human Resources on a new job description for an Open Doors facilitator.
Launched a daily coffee station.
Produced a special edition of The Loop.
Met with contractors to coordinate and develop new programs (all featured in The Loop}
Updated the website.
Extended appointment times to 4pm (from 3pm).
Offered groceries to the homebound through the Meals on Wheels program.
Presented at the Veterans Coffeehouse at Victoria Garden.
Programs and Projects in Planning
Recognition of the completion of the Tile Wall
Renter Rebate Program will begin as of April 15'* and we will do on-site visits at all elderly and
disabled housing complexes.
ECTC Transportation Grant - due May 24
Awaiting the arrival of a new van (provided through a DOT Grant) ~ scheduled arrival July 1,
2022

Older American Month (May) Luncheon - May 12 and catered by Grasso Tech Culinary
Program
Launch of mental health services, caregiver support group, Pat Ryan Outreach Program.
Obtaining ADA Coordinator, Fair Housing Coordinator and Veterans Liaison - in process.
Launch of Lunch before Bingo — a soft reopening of the café catered by Crown Pizza.
Launch of Bunco & also spoke to a resident interested in forming a Mahjong group.
Planning for the Annual Senior Picnic.
Launching 1 new intergenerational program ~ Floral Arranging.
Launching 2 new programs: Mindfulness and a Walking Club.
Mimi’s Cupcake Decorating - a special May activity on May 16".
Planning summer day trips. Confirming with East Lyme dates and programs that are finalized.
Voucher program for Farmer's Market.
