Director, Heidi McSwain, Human Services Coordinator, Meaghan Lineburgh, staff Helen Kwasniewski Call to order: Chairlady Sanders called the Waterford Senior Citizens Commission Regular Meeting of October 26, 2022 to order at 4:00 p.m. Establish a Quorum: A quorum was established. Public Comment: Helen Kwasniewski spoke on assistance received from Senior Services, Approval of the meeting minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 28, 2022. Chairlady Sanders asked for additions, deletions, or corrections to the minutes. MOTION: Motion made by Jody Nazarchyk, seconded by Anita to accept the meeting minutes as presented. VOTE: 6-0-0 Correspondence: Finance —in-series transfer Town Clerk — Meeting date Schedule Discussion on meeting dates for 2023 MOTION: Motion made by Dan Rissi, seconded by Dina Lopes to approve the Meeting dates for 2023 as presented. VOTE: 6-0-0 Endowment Fund Discussion on endowment fund. MOTION: Motion made by Anita Collins, seconded by Anne Darling to increase the amount of support from $500 to $800 from the Endowment Fund grant. VOTE: 6-0-0 VIL. Committee Reports a. Budget —no report b. Nominating Committee — no report c. Transportation — no report d. Planned giving — Will meet in January 2023 Vill. Director/Assistant Report for October (see attached) Highlights included 160 Rent Rebate applications, 145 Energy applications, Fitness programs continue with a new dance class starting in October. IX. New Business — Planned Giving Sub-Committee to meet in January 2023 regarding the Endowment Fund. xX. Other Business — None Xl. We added nametags at the sign- in desk, which helped - with making it more personalized for both staff and seniors e Apple Cider and Cinnamon Sugar Donuts Social: 10/20. It was a fun opportunity for Terry, Jen and our interns to mingle with the seniors. It provides the opportunity to get to know them better, promote programs, answer questions, and listen to suggestions. A free social is planned for each month. November- Pie and coffee, December- Cookies, Cocoa and Carolers e Daybreak Cafe’ lunch numbers have increased a little more than 400% since the introduction of our Lunch and Learn series. We have had Ryan McNamara from Recreation and Parks and Kathy Peterson from Fire Safety thus far.. ¢ Open Doors, our memory loss program, began October 11, providing a much needed service to our seniors with Alzheimer’s/memory loss. Jennifer Bracciale designs and facilitates the program. * Fitness Programs continue to be a big draw (14- 30 participants). A new dance class, Gentle Dance Mix Tap/Jazz/Ballet with Kristin Burrows began October 19. We expect it will continue to increase in popularity due to the positive feedback. 8 participants thus far. * BINGO and Bunco (26) numbers remain high. Bingo (50+) Lunch (30+) is a popular event preceding BINGO. e Pickleball is trending in the nation, as well as in Waterford.
