An April 12, 2022 Special Meeting of the Historic Properties Commission was called to order at

Town Owned Historic Properties: J. O’Neill and R. Nye reported that they and the First
Selectman, R. Brule, had a productive meeting about the condition of all historic properties
belonging to the town, discussing plans for addressing structural/maintenance issues.
The critical need to rally public support for addressing these issues was acknowledged.
The possibility of new interest in the Cohanzie School building was noted.
To date, monies that could be used to structurally shore up the Nevins Cottage are:
Town Funds: $125,000
American Rescue Plan Funds: $100,000
Historic Restoration Fund Grant(SHPO) — $200,000 (matching grants)
If the town is able to secure an HRF grant in the amount of $200,000, there will be enough
($425,000) to secure the cottage structurally and rehab the exterior. The interior renovations
are for another day.
Public Program: On May 24, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the Waterford Public Library, Bob Nye will
