Dear Committee Members,
lam here today to ask the question of what the stated goal(s) of long-term planning committee
is? Lam also curious as to why there are enormous gaps in the meeting schedule and an obvious
lack of follow up. Particularly as there seems to be an attempt to fast track a new Oswegatchie
Fire Station building.
Long Range Planning about the subject should have been regularly communicated in public
meetings yet, there is no substantive dialogue anywhere in the agendas posted on our town
web site. Not even meeting minutes for those meetings that did take place. Where is any of the
critical thinking that was discussed during any of those meetings? Our town website lists only
meeting Agendas for approximately one-half of 2021, one-third of 2022, one-sixth of 2023, and
ZERO meetings in 2024.
Which brings me to my point about the importance of this committee. That, it is entirely unfair
of the town to spend many millions of dollars on a new firehouse when the one in use can be
and should have been repaired. Our Quaker Hill Firehouse continues to be left understaffed or
empty and is a constant disservice to the community.
