Public Comments: None
Minutes: Motion by P. Crotty, seconded by M. Guarneri, to accept the minutes of
the Regular Meeting of March 12, 2024.
Voting in favor: Unanimous
Waterford Historic Properties Updates: J. O'Neill reported that he spoke with G.
Schneider about the condition of the chimney on the Jordan Park House. G.S.
will be getting specs for chimney repairs. This commission believes that it is
appropriate that a professional assessment of the condition of this building be
done. Note: There is $25,000 in the town budget for use on this building.
Waterford Historical Society Happenings: D. Walters reported that the Society
recently had the roofs of the Margaret Stacy Barn/Miner Education Center and
the Ralph Madara Blacksmith Shop power washed to remove moss, lichen, pine
needles, etc.
Nevins Cottage: Jonathan Mullen, Town Planner, and M. Guarneri, “Friends of
Nevins Cottage” committee member, reported the following:
~ “Friends of Nevins Cottage” group has obtained a license agreement from the
TOW, allowing it to have work done on the building.
~ New keys are being made.

~ J. Mullen, as the Town Planner, is the TOW point person for this project.
~ Two signs will be placed on the property to:
1. Advertise the project
2. Show fundraising progress
Eugene O’Neill Theater Center: J. O'Neill reported that the job of replacing the
roof on the mansion is in progress.
Cemeteries: J. O’Neill reported that the committee is working to secure and
place American flags on the graves of veterans in time for Memorial Day. He
continues to be in contact with town officials in an effort to secure assistance in
caring for abandoned and/or neglected cemeteries.
Delay of Demolition Ordinance: There was discussion around the current 50-
year-old designation in the ordinance. The group generally feels that criterion is
no longer useful; that it should address properties older than that. The topic was
tabled for further discussion at the commission’s next meeting.
Other: J. O’Neill reported that the Town of Waterford’s Ten Year “Plan of Preservation,
Conservation and Development’ is finished.
Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned 7:58p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Debra Walters, Secretary
