Minutes: Motion by R. Nye, seconded by P. Crotty, to accept the minutes of the Special Meeting
of March 21, 2023.
Voting in favor: Unanimous
Public Comment: No comments
Waterford Historic Properties: Re: The Nevins Cottage - No action has been taken. It appears
that the town will focus on the Jordan Park House and not the Nevins Cottage.
Re: the old stone wall along Avery Lane alongside the Park House; this commission considers
the wall to be part of the historic property and, therefore, should remain in place.
As part of programming in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the establishment of the
Waterford Public Library, on May 18th, R. Nye will give a talk about the library’s history.
Waterford Historical Society Happenings: D. Walters shared the program schedule for the
upcoming season, reported that the group had hosted all Waterford students in grades 3 & 5 for
field trips to tour/experience the buildings on Jordan Green, and reported that the Society now
has in hand a report submitted by a professional museum expert following a half day visit to
view the collections. It includes recommendations for caring for the collections and building
exhibits to showcase items and engage the public.
Eugene O’Neill Theater Center: J. O’Neill reported no new action.
Cemeteries: P. Crotty brought one of the newly created signs that will be posted identifying 3
cemeteries in town. He also reported that he completed erecting 3 stones at the Baker cemetery
on Hunts Brook Road.
E. Olynciw reported that she continues her work writing pieces about the history of town
cemeteries.
Plan of Preservation, Conservation, and Development - No update.
Other: R. Nye shared that the DEP has a website dedicated to Seaside where people are invited
to share suggestions and comments.
