Board of Trustees Minutes for meeting on January 11, 2022 1. President Rosenberg called the meeting to order at 6:00pm. Trustees Present: L. Couture, B. Pisacich, N. Dragoli, C. Giordano, E. Boyce, M. Wagner, A. Robarge, G. Ritter, J. Merrill, and J. Mullen. Also present C. Johnson, Director. Not Present: J. Lehet. 2. Consent Agenda Motion to approve the consent agenda, including minutes, treasurer’s report and financial report for the meeting of October 9, 2021 and December 9, 2021. Moved by B. Pisacich.2nd J. Merrill. Motion carried 3. President’s Report Aaron Rosenberg spoke to the board asking members for some new ideas for the library. M. Wagner: Library Giving Day – in April. Could contact local businesses. J. Mullen: A Children’s Day – maybe a fair or festival E. Boyce: Get High School aged kids into the library – maybe during the time they are filling out forms for colleges/essays. Maybe helping them with essays. C. Giordano: Middle School aged children. Something to help the underachievers come into the library. L. Couture: Bundle together a bag of books with a certain theme. Ex WW II books/movie/magazines all in one grab and go bag. A. Robarge: Putting more collections on display. H.S. study nights. N. Dragoli: Some sort of mobile library. Bring the books out to the public. G. Ritter: Library could install signs around new Nature walk this is being put around the Duck Pond. Focused fundraising B. Pisasich – More PR for art exhibits A. Rosenberg – More hands-on opportunities for Trustees, i.e. read a story in storytime, help with grounds/garden, shelf-read, etc. 4. Committee Reports Finance: B. Pisacich reported that the Finance Committee has a tentative meeting scheduled for February 15th (moved to the 16th). Noted that Future Benefits now using new reporting software called OneDigital. Fundraising: Committee reported that the annual Fund Drive gross income is at $23,650. 5. Director’s Report Director reported that a new revised budget (no increase/flat) was submitted to the town. New carpets for the mezzanine have been put on hold. Covid testing that was being held at the library has been now moved to the Crystal Mall (due to traffic issues). There will be a collection of children’s picture books re: diversity on display at the library (on loan) Library received 3 new laptops as part of a library ARPA Grant PT Custodian is still out so library is currently outsourcing the cleaning of the library. 6. Old Business There have been two resignations recently, Library Assistant and a full- time Tech. Assistant. We currently have a part-time as well as a full-time opening. Director suggested that the library combine the 2 positions into one new fulltime job. A motion to update this job description was made by M. Wagner. 2nd by G. Ritter. Motion passed. 7. New Business Library President Rosenberg has asked that the Library Building Committee meet soon to discuss / oversee the HVAC project. Board is in agreement with Director that fines will be reinstated once Covid spread is stabilized. Next regular board meeting will be on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 6pm. 8.
