REGULAR MEETING MINUTES _

1. CALL TO ORDER. Mr. Welch-Collins called the Regular Meeting of April 7, 2021 via Zoom to
order at 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Welch-Collins read the procedure for the meeting.
2. APPROVAL OF MARCH 3, 2020 MEETING MINUTES OF THE FLOOD AND EROSION CONTROL
BOARD.
MOTION (1): Mr. Harran moved to approve the March 3, 2021 Meeting Minutes
of the Flood and Erosion Control Board, as presented. Seconded by
Mr. Callahan. (5-0) Unanimous.
3. TREASURER’S REPORT. Mr. Kuvalanka reported there has been no change to the budget.
4. OLD BUSINESS
a. Review of Annual Fireworks Display at Waterford Town Beach/Alewife Cove. Mr. Welch-
Collins reported he requested a representative of Recreation and Parks to attend this
meeting. We received an email responding to this Board’s questions regarding the impact of
the annual fireworks display at Waterford Town Beach/Alewife Cove. We were informed the
fireworks are away from the beach and that the dune grass is growing back. Mr. Kuvalanka
felt they are taking all the necessary precautions. Mr. Welsh-Collins suggested tabling this
matter at this time and reviewing it after the New Year’s Eve display.
b. Vacancy Updates. Mr. Welch-Collins reported he has asked the Selectmen to appoint a new
member to this Board. He asked this Board’s members to invite anyone who they feel would
be an asset to this Board to a meeting of this Board.
5. NEW BUSINESS. Mr. Harran expressed concern with flooding because of the amount trees that
have been cut down on Gardiner’s Wood Road. He felt its important to determine where the
water is going. Mr. Callahan suggested talking to whoever is cutting the trees and expressing the
concerns of a member of this Board. Mr. Welch-Collins agreed to inquire about the plan to deal
with the flooding.
6. PLANS REVIEW. Mr. Welch-Collins reported he did not receive any plans.

7.CORRESPONDENCE. There was no correspondence.
8.PAYMENT OF BILLS. There were no bills.
9. ADJOURNMENT.
MOTION (2): Mr. Harran moved to adjourn the Flood & Erosion Control Board Meeting of
April 7, 2021, at 7:10 p.m. Seconded by Ms. Renegar. (5-0) Unanimous.
