WATERFORD HISTORIC PROPERTIES COMMISSION _ Minutes of Regular Meeting - January 9, 2024 — 8 9 y we ATE 31 The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by Chairman John O'Neill, Present: Members: John O’Neill, Skip Adams, Debra Walters Alternates: Melissa Guarneri, Justin Pezzolesi Absent: Members: Pat Crotty, Eileen Olynciw Alternates: Warren MacKenzie Appointment of Alternates: N/A Minutes: Motion by D. Walters, seconded by J. O’Neill, to accept the minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 12, 2023 Voting in favor: 2-0 Public Comments: None Waterford Historic Properties: J. O’Neill reported that this commission has suggested that the town have a consultant on hand who can provide professional advice regarding work done on the town’s historic properties. He then identified and reported on the town owned historic properties for the new members present. Waterford Historical Society Happenings: Nothing new was reported. Nevins Cottage: David Cavasino, representing the recently formed “Friends of Nevins Cottage”, reported on the group’s work to date. They are forming a 501(c)(3) organization. They plan to fundraise the money needed to restore the building to its presentation of 150 years ago while upgrading things such as heat and eliminating plaster walls. Once completed, the plan is to rent out the space with the intent of collecting enough revenue to support continued upkeep and maintenance of the building. The group is open to any and all ideas for building use. They understand that a certificate of appropriateness from this commission will need to be obtained before any work is done. Eugene O'Neill Theater Center: J. O’Neill reported that he has not been shown the bids for the roof work on the mansion. Cemeteries: J. O’Neill reported that the newly formed “Friends of Waterford Cemeteries” group is meeting regularly to determine the work they will undertake. Update - 80 Shore Road: The house has been demolished.
