Economic Development Commission September 8, 2022 p. lof2 WATERFORD ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION __ September 8, 2022 O22 SEP IS AM os 4 WATERFORD TOWN HALL 5:00 PM MEMBERS PRESENT: Edward Lusher MEMBERS ABSENT: Dan Radin, Lesley Sollima, Eric Palmer, Jill Szymanski ALTERNATES PRESENT: Julie Greco, Greg Attanasio ALTERNATES ABSENT: None STAFF PRESENT: Abby Piersall, AICP, Director of Planning, Mark Wujtewicz, Planner I, CALL TO ORDER/APPOINTMENT OF ALTERNATES Edward Lusher, acting Chair for this meeting seated Julie Greco for Jill Szymanski and Greg Attanasio for Dan Radin 2s APPROVAL OF MINUTES - August 11, 2022 Meeting MOTION: Motion made by E. Lusher, seconded by J. Greco, to approve the minutes of the August 11, 2022 meeting. VOTE: 2-0-1 (G. Attanasio abstain) | 3. UPDATE ON SMALL BUSINESS GRANTS: A. Piersall updated the Commission on the status of the Grant Program. She stated that the deadline for application submission is October 11 at 5:00pm. She anticipates one week for Planning Staff to review the applications for completeness. The Commission will be provided the application review criteria at the next meeting. She described the process and that the ranking of the various elements of the criteria will be the purview of the Commission. Those rankings will be discussed among the members at the next meeting. She anticipates that selection and distribution of awards will be at the November 10 meeting. 4, DISCUSS TOWN VIDEO A. Piersall described the Town marketing video with the Commission. The Commission discussed the various elements that make Waterford unique that can be incorporated into the video. Items such as coastal amenities, beaches, fitness, farming, education and Mago Point were all brought up during the discussion. 5. DISCUSS THE EDC FUNDS TO SUPPORT PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF COMMISSION GOALS The Commission discussed the funds that are present in the budget. A. Piersall stated that she will provide the Commission with a preliminary budget for the next fiscal year for their review. She stated that the present funds available in the current year’s budget should be utilized by February of 2023. Those funds were allocated in the present budget to support the EDC Strategy and initiatives. Economic Development Commission September 8, 2022 p. 2 of 2 The Commission discussed creating a scope of work for a potential consultant to hire in order to assist the Commission in developing its strategy. The Scope of work will be included as part of an RFP in the Commission’s search for a consultant. A. Piersall will generate a scope of work for the Commission’s review at the next meeting. 5; ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Motion made by J. Greco and seconded by G. Attanasio to adjourn the meeting at 6:10. VOTE: 3-0
