MINUTES BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS?§20 FEB (2 AM 9: 38 FEBRUARY 10, 2020 PRESENT: Thomas Sheridan, Chairman; James Dimmock, Vice Chairman; Mark Gelinas, Secretary; William Auwood, Commissioner; and Robert Brule, Commissioner DEPARTMENT: Chief Mahoney, Lt. Silva, Lt. Balestracci, Lt VanOverloop, Training Sergeant Ferland and Traffic Officer Spearrin PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: CALL TO ORDER AND ESTABLISH QUORUM: Chairman Sheridan called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. in the General Meeting Room of the Waterford Police Department. A Quorum was established. PUBLIC INPUT There was no public input. ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES: Acceptance of the Meeting Minutes of January 13, 2020. MOTION: made by Commissioner Auwood and SECONDED by Commissioner Dimmock to accept the meeting minutes of January 13,2020. PASSED. CORRESPONDENCE: a. Letter from POST, dated January 21, 2020 A discussion ensued regarding the large increase to send Officer Candidates to the Police Academy and the possibility/need to host local academy classes in the future. b. Letter to Board of Selectmen regarding the surplus of Car 6 Cc. Letter from Dani Gorman to the Waterford Police Department, dated January 7, 2020. TRAFFIC COMMISSION REVIEW AND JANUARY TRAFFIC REPORT Traffic Officer Spearrin discussed the January report, noting there were no Traffic Commission request to consider, CHIEF’S REPORT a. January K-9 Reports Reports were received January Investigative Services & Youth Report Reports were received January Training Report Reports was received. Chief Mahoney noted that Sergeant David Ferland was selected to fill the Sergeant Training position for a period of three years effective February 24, 2020. _ Board of Police Commissioners Meeting | February 10, 2020 Page 2 d. January Animal Control Report Chief Mahoney noted he would like to have a special meeting in the month of March for Officer Interviews. It was the consensus of the Commission to hold the special meeting on March 24, 2020. OLD BUSINESS , Nothing noted NEW BUSINESS Nothing noted POWER POINT — RECOGNITIONS & ENCOURAGEMENTS Chief Mahoney presented the Commission a PowerPoint of all appreciation/recognition/encouragement letters received by the Police Department for the Department and the Officers. He noted this runs on a loop in the Roll Call room for everyone to see.
