MINUTES
BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS
MAY 5, 2020
PRESENT: Thomas Sheridan, Chairman; James Dimmock, Vice Chairman, Mark Gelinas,
Secretary, Robert Brule, Commissioner
ABSENT: William Auwood, Commissioner
DEPARTMENT: Chief B. Mahoney and Ryan Spearrin, Traffic Officer
ALSO PRESENT: Abby Piersall, Director of Planning
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
CALL TO ORDER AND ESTABLISH QUORUM:
Chairman Sheridan called the special meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. via Zoom. A Quorum was
established.
TRAFFIC COMMISSION — PLEASURE BEACH BOAT LAUNCH PARISING
First Selectman Brule discussed the proposed project on Dock Road. As it stands now there is no
clearly defined parking spaces and specifically no handicap parking.
Planning Director Piersall stated that DEEP is specifically asking for signage at the end of the property
and stenciled “no parking” along the travel area. This would control the flow of people entering this
area and allow essential vehicles to be able to access when needed.
Traffic Officer Spearrin questioned the fact that because this area is not paved that the striping would
be on gravel and it may be more confusing or not last very long.
MOTION: made by Commissioner Dimmock and seconded by Commissioner Gelinas to approve the
request by Planning Director Abby Piersall for lot striping changes/handicap parking and no parking
signage at the Dock Road State Boat Launch. Passed unanimously.
MOTION: made by Commissioner Gelinas and seconded by Commissioner Dimmock to adjourn the
meeting at 10:18 am. Passed unanimously.
