FIFTEEN ROPE FERRY ROAD WATERFORD, CT 06385-2886 PHONE: 860-#42-0553, | wwwwaterfordctorg Energy Task Force Minutes — Special Meeting October 17, 2023 Members present: Kevin Girard (RTM), Mary Childs (RTM), Greg Attanasio (BOS), Chris Jones (via phone) (BoE), Members absent: David Peabody (BOF), Ivan Kuvalanka (elector), Ursula Moreshead (elector) 1., 2. Call to Order/Roll Call: With a quorum established, the meeting of the Energy Task Force (ETF) was called to order at 6:08 p.m. by Chair Kevin Girard. 3. Public Comments: there were no public comments 4. Approval of 9/14/23 meeting minutes: Motion by Attanasio, seconded by Childs to approve the 9/14/2023 minutes as presented. Motion passed, 5. Review and discussion of stated charge: group discussed updates regarding our list of potential charges. The Planning Department has submitted all required documents for the energy benchmarking conducted by UCONN and asked for an update. At this point no additional information is available. (This benchmarking includes all Town building energy use for the past two years. Once the benchmark is complete, the Town would be able to initiate a third party energy audit to identify and plan to address areas where conservation or reduction is possible.) A second topic was the placement of solar panels on school buildings. Chris Jones will follow up and speak to the Board of Education regarding this.. 6. New Business: Discussion regarding learning more about collection of food waste to remove it from our disposal stream and potentially utilize it as a biofuel. We will extend an invitation to a local town’s Public Works Director to see how it is working in their town. The group would like to see what steps need to occur to potentially get electric vehicle charging stations located at town buildings and/or schools. 7.
