FIFTEEN ROPE FERRY ROAD WATERFORD, CT 06385-2886 TOWN OF WATERFORD, CT PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT Date: August 10,2026 To: Waterford Conservation Commission Re: Application #C 26-06 — 2 Chapman Avenue Proposed Activity The application requests authorization under Section 4.1(d) of the wetland regulations to remove invasive “tree-of-heaven” saplings from the eastern edge of the property at 2 Chapman Avenue. Based on mapping available from the Town’s Public Works file for Chapman Avenue, there is an approximately: 3,000 sq. ft. area of inland wetland in the northeast corner of the lot where the activity is proposed. According to the CT Invasive Plant Working Group, cutting of the tree and applying herbicide to the cut is a recommended practice for control. To minimize temporary impacts to wetlands, the machinery should operate from the adjacent upland area and any cut or chipped vegetation should be removed. Areas of temporary soil disturbance from root removal should be returned to grade. Repeated cutting and treating of root sprouts may be required to achieve control. aureen FitzGerald Environmental Planner
