Waterford Senior Citizens Commission 
Meeting 
Tuesday, June 24, 2026 4:00pm

Present: Joyce Vlaun (Chairwoman), Dina Lopes (Vice-Chair) by phone, Dan Rissi (Vice-Chair), Susan Marelli, Cathy Gonyo, Anne Darling

Absent:  Rick Beany, Marilyn Lusher, Tom Kennedy, Senior Liaison

Also Present: Dani Gorman (Human Services Administrator), Terry Wheeler (Assistant Director Senior Services), Heidi McSwain (Human Services Coordinator) 

Call to Order: Meeting was called to order at 4:08pm 

Establish a Quorum: Quorum was established 

Approval of the minutes of the May 26, 2026 regular meeting: Dan Rissi made a motion to accept the minutes. Second by Anne Darling.  Motion passes unanimously 

Public Comment: No public comment

Correspondence: Thank you note from Georgene Foley-Didato after receiving the Sally Ritchie award.

Planned Giving Sub-Committee:  No report
Transportation:  Revised draft of policy and procedures for transportation for transportation.  Motion to accept new Policy & Procedures made by Cathy Gonyo, second by Dan Rissi.  Yes vote by Dan Rissi, Dina Lopes, Susan Marelli, Cathy Gonyo, Chairwoman Joyce Vlaun.  Abstained Anne Darling
Policies Ad Hoc Committee:  No report

Director/Assistant Director Report
Dani reported that the Renters Rebate and Farmers Market programs are underway. Waterford Cares recently hosted the Senior Resource Network breakfast and continues to see increased conservatorship activity. The Waterford Community Food Bank is offering complimentary June grocery bags with picnic-style meals. Staff are implementing the new transportation platform, with mandatory driver training scheduled for July 8; Commissioners are invited to attend. A new Office Assistant will begin in mid-July. Fiscal Year 2026 concludes June 30, with no additional appropriations expected. Summer vacation schedules are being finalized. The Spring Health Fair was well attended and received positive feedback.
Assistant Director Terry Wheeler reported that Waterford Cares received outstanding feedback following its presentation to the Senior Resource Network, with attendees describing it as inspirational and motivating. The senior picnic drew over 100 participants, and dance class members honored Georgene Foley-Didato following her receipt of the Sally Ritchie Award. Upcoming events include a free Community Iced Coffee gathering on July 2 and the annual cookout on July 29 at noon; tickets are currently available.
New Business: Confidentiality agreements were signed by present Commission members, and will be offered to the others at the regular August meeting.

Adjournment: Anne Darling made a motion to adjourn at 5:10pm. Motion was seconded by Susan Marelli
