BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS
June 8, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.

CALL TO ORDER AND ESTABLISH A QUORUM:
Commissioner Sheridan called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. in the Town Hall Auditorium.
A Quorum was established.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
PUBLIC INPUT:
Helen Kwasniewski requested increased law enforcement presence to address speeding, safety
concerns, and noise associated with motorcycle and e-bike users on Bloomingdale Road.
Brian Schuch submitted a letter requesting the removal of the "No Parking" sign located adjacent
to his uncle's driveway at 12 Cedar Street. This matter is discussed further under the Traffic
Commission Review section of these meeting minutes.
ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES:
MOTION: Made by Commissioner Gamble and seconded by Comumnissioner Gelinas to accept
the May 11, 2026 Regular Meeting minutes. Commissioner Dimmock abstained. Motion
passed.

The Life Saving Award was presented to Officer Stephen Colkos.
CORRESPONDENCE:
Correspondence was reviewed.
TRAFFIC COMMISSION REVIEW:
Traffic Report was received.
The Traffic Officer provided background information regarding the "No Parking" sign on Cedar
Street. The sign was installed in June 2020 to ensure that school buses, garbage trucks, and fire
apparatus could safely access the street. There were several incidents involving parking
violations in the area, including an occasion when an illegally parked vehicle prevented a fire
truck from proceeding down the street. The Traffic Officer advised that he is following up with
Fire Services and Public Works to determine whether the sign remains necessary.

Commissioner Brule requested increased speed enforcement, particularly in the beach areas and
the Ridgewood Park neighborhood during the busy summer season. He indicated that he would
revisit this issue at future meetings.

MOTION: Made by Commissioner Gelinas and seconded by Commissioner Gamble to adjourn
the meeting at 5:33 p.m. Motion passed unanimously.
