rescue of a young boy, Marc Nguyen, from 
the terrors of the Vietnam War. Marc 
promised that if he survived, he would live

Schools in Putnam, Ledyard and Groton.

Not To Be Forgotten, The History of Quaker Hill (with more discoveries)!* 
Join us for a presentation on the history of Quaker Hill by resident Kerry Holloway.  
Kerry has lived his entire life in Quaker Hill. Registration is suggested.  Kerry is retired 
from the Coast Guard Academy where he worked in Facility Engineering and taught 
cadets Computer Aided Design in the Civil Engineering Department.   
 
Waterford: the Early Years* 
We welcome Bob Nye, Municipal Historian Emeritus, for a presentation on the west farms area. He will  
explore our region's history, spanning from the years prior to the town's founding in 1801 to the adoption of 
Connecticut’s first constitution in 1818.  Bob was Waterford's municipal historian for 30 years, town clerk for 
20 years, history teacher at Waterford High School and a resident of Waterford for over 50 years.   
 
These programs are presented as part of the ongoing America 250th series.  Registration is suggested.

Exploring Waterford: A History Scavenger Hunt Kick-
Off Event! 
The Waterford250 Committee invites you to participate 
in a town-wide history scavenger hunt!  Scan the QR 
code, figure out the clues, then follow the trail through 
town and Quaker Hill to locate 11 historical loca-
tions. Rain or shine. On the side lawn by the duck pond, 
indoors in the meeting room if rain.

Summer Reading Kickoff Event 
"Plant a Seed, Read!" is this year’s Summer Reading 
theme! Stop by for crafts, games, and activities. All
