Waterford Senior Citizen’s Commission Special Meeting Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 4:00pm Waterford Community Center 24 Rope Ferry Rd. Waterford CT 06385 Present: Joyce Vlaun (Chairperson), Rick Beaney, Anne Darling (Zoom), Cathy Gonyo, Dina Lopes (Call in), Marilyn Lusher, Susan Marelli Also present: Dani Gorman (Human Services Administrator), Terry Wheeler (Assistant Director Senior Services), Heidi McSwain (Human Services Coordinator), Joe Filippetti (Board of Finance Liaison) Absent: Dan Rissi, Tom Kennedy (Senior Representative), Richard Muckle (Selectman Liaison) I. Call to Order: Meeting was called to order at 4:09pm II. Establish a Quorum: Quorum was established III. Public Comment: No public comment IV. Approval of the minutes from the December 16, 2025 Commission Meeting: Marilyn Lusher made a motion to approve the minutes from the December 16, 2025 Commission Meeting. Cathy Gonyo seconded the motion. Motion passed (7-1-1) V. Correspondence: Letter from resident addressing concerns about wait time for class registration process, discussion followed. Thank you letter from Tom and Joann Kennedy. Letter from Community Foundation. VI. Committee Reports: a. Budget: None b. Nomination Committee: two commission members expressed interest in being reappointed to the Senior Citizen’s Commission when their term is up in April. Letters of support were signed by chairperson to be sent to Town Clerk to be presented at the April 3rd RTM Meeting. c. Endowment/Planned Giving Sub-Committee: Dani Gorman presented commission with request to pull funds from the Community Foundation Endowment Fund to cover Endowment and Planned Giving requests. Discussion followed. Motion: Dina Lopes made a motion to replenish fund from the Endowment Fund into Emergency Fund and stated this should accrue every six months. Marilyn Lusher seconded the motion. Motion Passed (8-1-0) d. Transportation Sub-committee: Discussion about reviewing the Transportation Policies and Procedures. Joyce Vlaun set up a Transportation Sub-Committee Meeting to meet on March 24, 2026. e. Policies Ad Hoc Committee: Policies regarding Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities to be reviewed at Transportation Sub-Committee Meeting. VII. Director/Assistant Director Report for January &February 2026: Dani Gorman reported that the Renters Rebate and Farmers Market programs would be starting in the spring. Dani Gorman also stated that the number of wellbeing checks had risen. Terry Wheeler reported the New Loop was coming out with new programs and events. Wheeler also stated registration day would be on March 19, 2026. VIII. New Business: New program registration procedures was presented to the commission. Discussion followed. IX. Adjournment: Rick Beaney made a motion at 5:44pm to adjourn. Cathy Gonyo seconded motion. Motion passed
