Waterford Senior Citizens Commission 
Meeting 
Tuesday, May 26, 2026 4:00pm

Present: Joyce Vlaun (Chairwoman), Anne Darling, Dina Lopes (Vice-Chair), Dan Rissi (Vice-Chair), Susan Marelli, Cathy Gonyo, Marilyn Lusher, 

Absent: Rick Beany and Tom Kennedy (Senior Liaison), Joe Filippetti (BOF Liaison) 

Also Present: Dani Gorman (Human Services Administrator), Terry Wheeler (Assistant Director Senior Services), Heidi McSwain (Human Services Coordinator) 

Call to Order: Meeting was called to order at 4:03pm 

Establish a Quorum: Quorum was established 

Public Comment: None   

Approval of the minutes of the April 28, 2026 regular meeting: Marilyn Lusher made a motion to accept the minutes. Second by Dan Rissi. Approval was unanimous. 

Correspondence: Commission members were invited to the Senior Service Network meeting on June 10th at the Waterford Community Center. 

Committee Reports: Committees will stay for another year from April 2026 to April 2027. 
Budget: (Anne Darling, Marilyn Luster, Susan Marelli) 
Nomination Committee: (Anne darling, Cathy Gonyo, Dina Lopes) 
Endowment Fund Request: (Susan Marelli, Anne Darling, Rick Beaney)
Planned Giving Sub-Committee:  (Dina Lopes, Joyce Vlaun, Susan Marelli)
Transportation Sub-Committee: (Cathy Gonyo, Rick Beaney, Dina Lopes) Cathy Gonyo made a motion to accept proposed draft, second by Marilyn Lusher. Motion was withdrawn by Cathy Gonyo and Marilyn Lusher. Discussion ensued. Commission members will read transportation policy draft and discuss at the next meeting in June, 2026. 
Policies Ad Hoc Committee: (Marilyn Luster, Dina Lopes, Dan Rissi)

Director/Assistant Director Report: Dani Gorman shared the new staff members hired for Senior Services. Casey Startz is the new Senior Services Assistant, Susan Devlin is a new substitute driver, and we will be welcoming Mary Beth Shea in the middle of June for the Office Support Technician position. Gorman thanked Heidi McSwain and Mindy Stone for all their hard work, taking on duties that were left from multiple positions and training new staff. Commission members are invited to join the Coffee Club members in honoring and sending off Mikey Buscetto to his next endeavor. This lunch will take place this Friday at 12:00pm. The luncheon and garden celebration were a success this month and many thanks to Susan Marelli and Dina Lopes for all the continued help and support that make these events so special. 
Report from Assistant Director:  Received many donations that have helped this month’s events succeed with much bigger crowds. The Spring Fling Luncheon was a success and the salads from Recovery Room were a huge hit. Many thanks to several commission members for volunteering. The Senior Picnic will be June 17th to celebrate America’s 250th birthday and Waterford’s 150th birthday. Lastly, the new quarterly loop is getting ready to be published and printed. There will be more puzzles and games such as Community Connections and Mah Jong. 

New Business: Confidentiality statements will be renewed at the June, 2026 meeting. 

Adjournment: Cathy Gonyo made a motion to adjourn at 5:10pm. Motion was second by Anne Darling
