SPECIAL MEETING
MINUTES
BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS
October 4, 2021
PRESENT: 
James Dimmock, Mark Gelinas, Rob Brule, T Sheridan
ABSENT:

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
CALL TO ORDER AND ESTABLISH QUORUM:
Chairman Gelinas called the special meeting to order at 5:04 p.m. in the General Meeting Room of the Waterford Police Department. A
Quorum was established.
MOTION: made by Commissioner Dimmock to allow finance and/or the Chief 
of police to make necessary in-series line item transfers
on a quarterly basis. The commission will be notified at the next meeting of the transfers and no additional funds will be requested unless
voted upon by the Board of Police Commissioners. Motion was SECONDED by Commissioner Sheridan. The motion was voted upon
and passed.
Future of Police Chief position was discussed, and the option for process of putting an interim Chief 
in place was explained. Chief
Mahoney explained that there has to be someone in charge and that the Police Department has capable people that would be able to step
into the Chief's position as interim Chief. Town attorneys stated that there was a process in 2015 that Chief Mahoney was a part of when
Chief Pendleton retired and that that option is viable. There is a union involved that there would have to be a Memorandum of
Understanding between the Union and the Town Of Waterford, there will be discussions to follow. 
It was suggested that another special
meeting be held to accept Chief Mahaney’s retirement letter and to discuss and act upon an Interim Chief.
MOTION: made by Commissioner Sheridan to hold a special meeting on Wednesday October 6, 2021 at 2pm at the Waterford Police
Department General Meeting Room with remote Zoom access, The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss and act upon the Chief 
of
Police Brett Mahoney’s resignation letter and for consideration and action on appointing an interim Chief 
of Police, The motion was
SECONDED by Commissioner J. Dimmock, the motion was voted upon, motion carries.
Adjournment; 
A MOTION was made by Commissioner Sheridan to adjourn, The motion was SECONDED by Commissioner
Dimmock, the motion was voted upon; the motion carries.
Meeting was adjourned at 5:40 pm.
