AMERICA 250 CT PROGRAM: Wednesday, April 1 through April 30 Passport to CT Libraries Discover the world of Connecticut libraries with a Passport to Connecticut Libraries. Get a passport, visit libraries, and get it stamped this April! The Passport to Connecticut Libraries program encourages residents to visit participating libraries across the state during the month of April (National Library Week) to explore, collect stamps, and win prizes. Pick up a passport at your local library, visit other libraries, collect stamps, and get the chance to win a $200 Visa gift card by visiting at least 5 locations. There will be six statewide winners in total. Monday, April 6, 6:30PM - 7:30PM Declaration Book Club We will host Declaration Book Club, a new 3-part discussion group designed to bring people together to read, discuss, and reflect on the Declaration of Independence - one of the most influential documents in American history. Designed by Monticello, the Declaration Book Club emphasizes close reading, thoughtful discussion, and shared inquiry. Participants will explore not only what the Declaration says, but how its ideas have been understood, challenged, and reinterpreted over time. This is a 3-part discussion series held on Mondays, April 6, May 4 and June 1st, 6:30 pm. Registration is required to secure your spot. A downloadable reading guide is available when you register. Saturday, April 25, 2:00PM - 4:00PM A Dash of Nutmeggery in the Revolutionary War with Troubadour Tom Callinan A program consisting of period songs from the 1700s all of which have connections to Connecticut. In 1991, he was designated Connecticut's first "Official State Troubadour". This program is presented as part of the ongoing America 250th series.
