At the RTM Budget Hearing of May 1, 2023 on the Board of Education budget, the RTM reduced the
Board of Education budget by $536,472. During the course of the discussion at the budget hearing,
it was recommended that the Board of Education seek an appropriation from undesignated fund
balance to address all or part of the reduction.
At the May 18, 2023 Board of Education regular meeting, the Board of Education directed me to
formally request undesignated fund balance from Town government to fund the following FY24
items:
e $243,335 -Eversource on-bill financing charge for energy efficiency project equipment
e $142,800 - Chromebook replacement cycle for 2023-2024 school year
e $38,050 - iPad replacement cycle for the 2023-2024 school year
e $59,487 - HVAC inspection of all 5 schools as newly required by the State of
Connecticut
In total, these requests equal $483,672 of the $536,472 reduction.
