INTER-OFFICE CORRESPONDENCE DATE: October 22, 2024 TO: Planning and Zoning Commission FROM: Mark Wujtewicz, Planner RE: Waterford Public Schools Safety Improvements On June 25, 2024, the Planning and Zoning Commission approved an CGS §8-24 application PL- 24-10 submitted by the Waterford Board of Education for safety improvements to Great Neck, Oswegatchie, Quaker Hill, Clark Lane Middle and Waterford High Schools. The Commission reviewed and found the proposal consistent with the 2012 Plan of Conservation and Development and stated its findings on the record. During the review process and discussion, the Commission requested an opportunity to review the details of the improvements at a later date. It is noted that the improvements proposed do not qualify as a site plan as defined in the Zoning Regulations. Section 22.1 of the Zoning Regulations states, in part … “Each use for which a site plan is required is a potentially significant addition to a developing or developed area of the Town, and to a residential, commercial or industrial neighborhood…” While the improvements, which are proposed, are not considered significant additions to the school properties, the applicant is providing details of the project as requested and will be present at the meeting to review the proposal with the Commission.
