e From Chief Mahoney - I’ve attached a speed readout for Niantic River Road that the Traffic Officer ran the first
week of December for your reference (NRR2020.pdf), it will give you a rough idea of the speeds that occur on
your roads — we have it as part of our follow up to the fatal accident, so | wanted you all to have it as well. This
is a separate piece of equipment than the sign referenced in your email.

Attached above is the report provided by Chief Mahoney. Can you please also provide this email summary along the
PDF file to the RTM for the February 1°t meeting.
In looking at the data | wanted to highlight the following:
1. Niantic River Road had almost 65,000 drivers on the road during Dec. 2020
a. 65,000 during covid and winter - what is the average number of drivers on the road in the summer, no
covid?
2. 92% of the drivers go over the speed limit of 30 mph
a. This means 59,657 of the 65,000 are traveling over 30mph
b. If you apply the allowable +9mph over the limit noted in the attached the rate is 42% or 27,300 drivers
travel 40mph or faster.
