C-22-14 1OSR & 131 CLARK LANE PUBLIC HEARING 01-26-23 EXHIBIT #15 ~ Stop the destruction of 16 acres of | Bates Woods. 16 acres of woods will be destroyed to build 47 prefab(trailer) homes. This project will kill, bury alive and run out hundreds of animais: wild turkey, deer, rabbits, opossums, stray cats, skunks, coyotes, snakes, owls and much more. Not only will it destroy their habitats but also cut down hundreds of trees. Bates Woods is also known to have wetiands on its property. Wetlands are vital ecosystems, Home to 40 percent of the world's species, they protect us from flooding, provide food and clean water, and play a crucial role in combating climate change. Yet this developer does not seem to care about our environment at all, The cluster of these “homes” will be so close together, you could touch your neighbors “house”. This not only will have a high chance of pollution, those who live in such dense quarters have a higher probability of pollution, (look at city living) but the wetlands that are already viable there will only cause these new “homes” to flood, making living miserable for those who choose to live there. Not only will this construction contribute to killing our planet but it also puts those who live in the Waterford/New London area at risk. The high volume of traffic on Clark Lane is insane, This project will add over a hundred more cars to Clark Lane since both roads connected to the trailed park will be spilled right out onto the main road, Clark Lane already experiences a frenzy of car accidents, this will only allow more to occur, Not to mention that this trailer park will be placed right near the middle school. This means every child who walks to schoal now has to walk on a higher density read, making conditions riskier for our youth, This developer is someone who has money. He is a person who has ignored what the town residents have said, begging for him not to continue this project. He is only in it for the money and does not care about the peaple. He is a Hartford lawyer who has gathered an 830G for “affordable housing” to put in a trailer park, just to bypass towns zoning laws. He took a loop hole just to make a quiet buck, Those who live near the area, those who own property near the land that will be under construction were told that their equity will go down. So those whe have paid for their houses and lots will now lose more money because of this money hungry developer, When the meeting was held and this topic was brought up, all they did was shrug. So this man gets to sit back and make a comfartable amount of money, all the while stating that it’s for the people, that it’s marked affordable housing. When only 7 out of the 47 “homes” are marked affordable. That is less than 15% of the houses. How can they be for the people, when the rest of the “homes” are marked full price? And all that has to happen, to allow this man to fill his pockets, is the death and displacement of the animals that currently reside in the woods, It’s the price the environment has to pay, losing a mass quantity of trees, harming and polluting our wetlands. Residents with children, who have to walk to school, get to fear a little bit more about their child's safety on that road. And those who have been living here and own their houses now have to accept that their equity will go down. This developer does not care about the environment, the animals or the townspeople he says he is here to help. He is only in this for the money. It might not be much but every signature counts, Please take a moment and help save the woods. Help save the town from one more greed filled person who is just in it for themselves. The residents have tried everything, this is one of our last attempts to stop this. If we get enough signatures we might be able to stop this. We need you, we need the people to help. Please help. If you would like to get involved a wetlands committee will be held January 26th at Waterford town hall. 195 have signed. Let's get to 200!
