Resolution of Board of Selectmen
at the meeting of October 6, 2020
WHEREAS, since 1985 the Town, under the purview of the Board of Selectmen, began a program
with local faith congregations to collect food and create an interfaith food locker in the basement
of the Jordan Park House and then relocated to the Waterford Town Hall basement for distribution
to the needy;
WHEREAS, the program grew to service more and more local residents in need of foodstuffs,
with the help of Town staff and many local faith congregation volunteers;
WHEREAS, the success of the program led First Selectman Dan Steward to request that the Town
Youth and Family Services, begin to supervise cker program with the continued
assistance of the local faith congregations; and
their formal role in the Town
© volunteer when possible under COVID-19 restrictions.
WHEREAS, the local faith congregations have moved to r
locker program but will
NOW, THEREFORE; Board of Selectmen hereby moves to formerly thank the
local faith congregations fora d future contributions to the Waterford food locker
and hereby:
RESOLVE that the newly renamed, Wateiford Community Food Bank, shall continue under the
Town guidance of Waterford Youth and Family Services and continue to be located and operated
from the old Waterford Town Hall located at 200 Boston Post Road, Waterford, CT.
