There is a small creek that connects to the sewage drain on the edge of my properly from the town owned wetland. The creek gets very overgrown with weeds such as poison ivy, wild rose, wild raspberries, thistle and other miscellaneous ivies making it extremely difficult for me to keep it maintained. Also since | have moved here, | have not seen major water activity in the creek other than a trickle here and there during heavy rain. | have attached some of the recent pictures in the following pages of how it looks like while the creek is overgrown (see picture 1 showing the side where it was not cleaned up) and how it looks when cleared up (see picture 2 showing creek going toward the street side). The growth level is rapid so it does require constant maintenance effort which is costly if hiring someone and too difficult to be handled by me. Picture 3 shows close-up snapshots put together of the cleaned up area. As you can see in the picture the bulb flowers planted near the creek (on the lawn area by the previous owner) and the weeds have pushed out the rocks in the existing channel, eroding it. This permit request is for the proposed channel work which includes the channel being cleaned out by a contractor where the contractor will remove the leftover weeds, eroded rocks and place bigger rocks in place so that channel is well defined without changing the width or the depth of the channel. The contractor | hired to look at this is from Griffscapes and he recommended a use of a pond liner to stop the excessive weed growth where he would put heavy round stones on top of it so it will not be washed into the sewage drain. If pond liner with stone on top is not recommended, | would still like to get a pemit to have the channel maintained by removing eroded rocks on the side and replacing it with bigger rocks in place and removing the bulb plants that is currently growing on the lawn which will be replaced with bushes in the future. If liner on the bottom is not recommended then perhaps placing thin slabs of rock for stabilizing the channel so soil doesn’t get washed away during rain is also an option. Proposed activity will include the channel on my property; first diagonal line on the map attached (~5Oft). During the time this work is being performed (which would most likely last 2 days with max 5 days depending on weather conditions) the contractor will block the sewage drain (using hay bales or other equivalent idea) while the channel area is being dug out so that no dirt/debris will wash into the sewage. Let me know if you need more information from me to make a decision on this matter. Thank you for taking the time to go over my request. Sincerely, Rashmi Shrestha Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 10 DONNA STREE 2009 Aerial Mappir SCALE: 1" = 40 F” Yellow highligh aren SOF of dhonnel will be altered.
