RE: Oswegatchie Fire Co., No 4, Inc
To the Esteemed Members of the Waterford RTM,
| have been a resident of Waterford since 2001 and have been proud of our town’s fire
departments’ ability to respond to the needs of the community. As we all know, covering
Waterford’s over 44 square miles and serving over 19,000 people takes organization,
dedication and some significant logistics. Central to the logistics of our community, is the
ability for Oswegatchie Fire Company to support and respond to the needs of not only
District 3, but other districts as well. Oswegatchie Fire Company's location on US Route
1 allows easy support to downtown Waterford, Cohanzie, Jordan, Great Neck and even
Quaker Hill. On top of being able to support the other stations, their proximity to
Waterford Ambulance and Waterford PD, ensures that all emergency services can
support the town promptly.
On a personal note, | have been taking care of my parents for the past 15 years and we
have had a couple of 911 instances where Oswegatchie Fire Company was the first to
respond to our needs. The team was quick to assess the situation, stayed in constant
contact with the ambulance and had my father prepped and ready for the ambulance
team when they arrived. My house is old and is not easy to maneuver around, but the
team was quick, safe, responsive and very respectful of my family. One of the trips
resulted in a helicopter flight to Yale waiting for them when the ambulance arrived at
Lawrence Memorial, and | like to credit the Oswegatchie Fire Company for their
teamwork, dedication and care for getting my father promptly to those life-saving
services.
| believe, given the location of the Oswegatchie Fire Company and their ability to
respond to the community, that investing in a new firehouse will be a wise, tax-based
expenditure | can endorse so the location continues to be a critical support facility for
Waterford’s emergency needs.
Thank you for your consideration,
Dana Schlosser

Hi, Dave.
We hope all is well with you and Tina.
We're writing to let you know that we wholeheartedly support the construction of a new station for Oswegatchie
Fire Company. Yours is the only email address we could find on the RTM website, so that's why we're writing
to you.
We and the other Waterford citizens in the Oswegatchie district depend on a well-equipped, well-functioning
fire company to ensure our safety. Critical to that company's efficiency is a structurally sound station.
We ask you to communicate our support to the RTM at the October 6 meeting. We'd be there in person but we'll
be in Italy for a long-planned and long-delayed trip. Finally!
Thanks,
Peter & Patti

I am writing in support of the new building to house the Oswegatchie Fire Co., No. 4 which serves my district
in Waterford.
I believe that those who commit to put themselves at risk on a daily basis to save the lives and dwellings of
others should operate from a safe structure. The issues with this firehouse should have been addressed and
resolved years ago. Continuing to deliberate over this issue not only allows the eventual cost to increase, but
puts our heroes at physical and mental risk.
I have always been and forever will be grateful to our first responders, law enforcers, and military for protecting
and keeping us safe. The Town of Waterford needs to reciprocate.

To: The Waterford Representative Town Meeting
Dear Town Representatives,
It has come to my attention that there is a vote scheduled regarding funding for the new fire house for the
Oswegatchie Fire Department. As a resident of Waterford for the past decade I understand the extreme
importance of ensuring the local fire departments are properly funded and equipped. These brave humans risk
everything to protect their community and keep their neighbors safe. Whether it's responding to a call or the
annual Santa Ride to collect toys and food for those in need, Oswegatchie FD has been there for Waterford and
now it is our turn to be there for them. It is my strong hope that you share these sentiments and will vote to
approve the funding to rebuild their firehouse at the October 6th meeting.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Jordan Janas

Members of the building committee,
It is with deep concern that the Oswegatchie Fire Company receives the support
needed from you for its needed bonding. The project is long overdue and vital to our
community.
So, we rise is support of the bond for this project.
Respectfully,

To Waterford RTM:
With the population of Waterford continuing to rise, we need all of our town’s fire
companies to be fully staffed with the best training, equipment, and facilities possible. It is time
to bring the Oswegatchie Fire Company’s facility up to date so that they can continue to serve
the town well.
The fact that structural issues significant enough to threaten collapse of the Oswegatchie
Fire Station identified in 2008 still have not been resolved is disheartening, Continued delay in
pursuing corrective action will only make the cost of resolution more expensive.
Beechwood Estates is an over-55 community located off Parkway South. Our residents
rely on the town’s emergency services more than the general population. The well-being of the
Oswegatchie facility is especially important to us.
The forty (40) homeowners in our community strongly support the construction of a new
and more functional building to house the Oswegatchie firefighters and recommend the RTM
immediately pursue any bonding required to ensure the Oswegatchie Fire Company can properly
address any fire protection issues.
