To Whom it May Concern-
My name is Maggie Sullivan, and I am a Pre-K Teacher at Great Neck School. Having always lived in Waterford and being part of the
Waterford Teaching Team, I have seen first hand the positive impact our school district has on students and families. Waterford
teachers work tirelessly, in and out of their contracted hours, to build an environment for learning that makes children excited and
engaged when it comes to school. We build life-long learners and as Pre-K teachers we often have the first chance to show children
how wonderful learning can be. We work to "make the boat go faster", by getting our children excited about learning and helping
them to develop a love for learning from a very young age.
This year has been different and for many of my families, not what they were hoping their child's first school experience would be.
However, as a district we have persevered and worked to maintain relationships with children and families, while still maintaining the
same level of rigor in our teaching. I've received many positive messages from families expressing their gratitude for the work that
Waterford Teachers are putting in now, and always.
Next year will be an adjustment period for many of our students. They will be returning to a place where they will need to feel safe
and secure, so that they can continue to learn, In order to do this, we will need to have strong passionate teachers, support staff,
resources, interventionists, and programs in place for our students, These are ail aspects of what makes Waterford Schools great and a
town where parents want to have their children attend school. Please consider that consistency will be key for our learners and
families, and that a budget cut that could restrict many of these resources is the exact opposite of what we need to keep the boat
moving faster.
