Dear Mr. Campo and Mr. Dembek,
Please read the following email aloud at the meeting tonight:
When we think about trimming costs in the Waterford town budget we should consider cuts in the central office
of education. We must preserve lower class size!
Waterford has a superintendent, an assistant superintendent, and a director of special services. The role
of assistant superintendent and director of special services positions are combined in many districts. This would
not directly affect students and would have no impact on class size and district offerings. Some of the job tasks
could also move to the superintendent’s job description. The central office positions are political, oversight
positions. A superintendent could and should take on more responsibility in these financially challenging times.
He has tremendous support like administrative assistants, building administrators, HR, a business manager,
coaches, etc. The high paying positions at central office should be consolidated.
