Let's Speak English Together! 
Thursdays, July 11 through August 15, 
7:00PM – 8:15PM  
All are invited to join us for an informal conversation 
group where you can practice speaking English in a 
supportive community of new language learners. This 
first set of sessions will run for 6 weeks, beginning on 
July 11 and ending on August 15. Our facilitator is Jeri 
DeSantis, a former English teacher at Fitch High 
School, librarian, and teacher of English to Speakers 
of other Languages at New London Adult Education. 
No registration is required for this event. Free and 
open to the public. This program is funded by the 
Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut.

Earth 2024 
Wednesday, July 31, 6:30PM – 7:30PM  
We are a quarter of the way into the 21st Century, 
and a health check-up on our planet is over-
due.  Earth 2024 (E24) is that check-up, in the form 
of an original 65-minute multimedia presentation, 
with compelling imagery, an accompanying sound-
track and live narration that takes a sweeping look 
at man's 2.5 million year evolutionary journey. Our 
presenter is Ken Wolslegel, Founder of E24 and an 
environmental scientist.

Bio-Geographical Journeys to the Four 
Poles in one Year 
Thursday, August 29, 6:30PM - 7:30PM 
Dr. Richard Benfield took four journeys in 2023 to 
the four geographic poles: North Pole, South Pole 
and the other two. Other two? Where are they? In 
this one- hour presentation we will focus on the four 
poles and the animals and people who live there: 
their landscapes, their livelihoods and their flora and 
fauna.

CT Author's Trail Author Event with  
Barbara Hawes 
Thursday, July 25, 6:30PM – 7:30PM 
Barbara’s first novel is Between the Rocks. Leena, 
married with children, finds her high school sweet-
heart after twenty years. Her second novel is Hawk 
Dove Ridge. Gem, twenty-two, moves west to Okla-
homa to join her boyfriend, James, who lives in a 
religious community.
