ABOUT THE WATERFORD PUBLIC LIBRARY 
 
The Waterford Public Library is a town-owned and supported institution maintained for the benefit of 
the townspeople.  By resolution of the Representative Town Meeting of the Town of Waterford, dated 
August 7, 1967, it was designated to be Principal Public Library of the Town of Waterford.  It is operated 
by the Board of Trustees of the Waterford Public Library, Inc.  The Board of Trustees consists of twelve 
citizens of Waterford.  The First Selectman, the Chair of the RTM Education Committee and the Chair of 
the RTM Finance, Wage & Personnel Committee are ex-officio board members.  The Waterford Public 
Library is a non-partisan, non-sectarian institution dedicated to serving the public in the areas of 
education, information and recreation, making its services known and available to all. 
 
The Library has a collection of over 85,000 items including books, videos, audio books, magazines and 
music CDs for adults, children and teenagers.  It also offers a wide variety of entertainment, 
informational and cultural programs for all ages.  The Library provides several online databases as well 
as public computers and Wi-Fi access.  Meeting rooms are available for use by non-profit groups.  
Exhibits of local artists and organizations are featured monthly. 
 
Waterford residents and taxpayers may register for a library card and this card may be used at any 
public library in Connecticut.
