Youth Art Month was created in 1961 by the Art & Creative Materials Insti- tute, Inc. (ACMI). It takes place during the month of March every year and recognizes art education as a necessity for child and adolescent development and to place emphasis on art education’s facilitation of critical thinking within stu- dents. Throughout the month numerous art displays are created all over the United States to bring attention to the arts with hopes of expanding programs in schools as well as community engagement.
