CALL   FOR   ARTISTS! 
ART  IN  WATERFORD  2026: Past + Present + Future 
“We, the artists …” celebrate America’s 250th year! 
April  20 – September 21, 2026 
The seventh ART IN WATERFORD  exhibition will celebrate our country’s 250th 
anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence! One way that the First 
Selectman of Waterford, Rob Brule, has invited the Waterford Historical Society to support 
the Town’s celebrations will be with hanging outstanding artwork by local artists in the 
main hallways of Waterford Town Hall for five (5) months!   
The Waterford Historical Society, Inc. is now soliciting 1 or 2 original works of art from local 
artists.  {Please join our organization! See below.}  Here are the specifics: 
* Depict ANY contemporary or historical aspect/representation of people, places, things, 
or impressions of S.E. Connecticut that depict your love of our country. Please do not 
submit partisan, divisive, or disrespectful subject matter to hang in Town Hall.  
* Paintings, sketches, photographs, etchings, etc. should be no larger than 3’ x 4’. 
* Sculptures and artwork that cannot be hung must be considered on a case-by-case basis.  
* Artists may sell their works of art at the price registered on the application, from which 
25% will be donated to the Waterford Historical Society, Inc.      
* All works of art by contemporary artists will be placed by the artists themselves on 
Monday, April 20 (12 - 6PM) along with members of the Waterford Historical Society and 
designated Town personnel. The show will be open until Monday, September 21, 2026.   
* Artists should remove their unsold pieces on Monday, September 21(12 - 6PM). 
Each application must include a high-quality image of each of your artworks being 
submitted.   By February 20, 2026, it must be e-mailed to artinwaterford@gmail.com.  
(If you cannot, please mail by February 10, 2026, the artwork image with your application to this address: 
Kristen Widham, Waterford Historical Society, Inc., P. O. Box 117, Waterford, CT  06385.)   
Our jurors will review each submission virtually, based upon your image of your artwork. 
Their decisions will be shared with each artist on March 20, 2026.
