Town of Waterford Shellfish Commission Regular Meeting Minutes – Tuesday, March 4, 2025 7:00 p.m. – Waterford Town Hall 1. Establish a Quorum and Call the Meeting to Order Vice Chairman Jamroga called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. after establishing a quorum. Present were Commissioners Jamroga, Drennen and Porter. Absent were Commissioners Francolino, Calkins and Healy. 2. Pledge of Allegiance 3. Approval of the February 4, 2025, Meeting Minutes Motion made by Commissioner Porter, seconded by Commissioner Jamroga to approve the February 4, 2025, meeting minutes as filed. All in favor, motion carried. 4. Correspondence All correspondence received are forwarded in between meetings to keep the Commission members up to date. 5. Treasurer’s Report a. Update from Treasurer Regarding Progress with the FY26 Budget Meetings for the Waterford Shellfish Commission Treasurer Porter stated he has attended all the scheduled budget meetings pertaining to the Waterford Shellfish Commission to date to answer any questions from the Boards and Agencies involved in the approval process. b. Review of Monthly Treasurer’s Report Generated from the Town of Waterford Finance Department Treasurer Porter reviewed the revenue and expenditures of the Waterford Shellfish Commission with the Commission members. Motion made by Commissioner Drennen, seconded by Commissioner Jamroga to approve the Treasurer’s Report as reviewed. All in favor, motion carried. 6. Monthly Monitoring and Sampling Report The recreational shell fishing areas are currently closed. The 2025 season is scheduled to re-open pending satisfactory meat and water samples on April 1, 2025. 7. New Business a. Summary of the 2025 Annual Shellfish Gathering Commissioner Porter had planned to attend the Gathering but was unable to due to an illness. 8. Old Business a. Update Regarding Progress to the Shellfish Resource Management Plan and Maps The Commission has submitted the Shellfish Resource Management Plan and Maps to the Town Attorney for review and approval and since then the Town Attorney has authorized the Shellfish Commission to move forward with submission of the approved Plan to the State of Connecticut and to authorize the new Plan to combine Areas A and G into one. It was the consensus of the Commission members to reach out to the State of Connecticut DA/BA to determine protocol for the submission and adoption of the revised Plan. The Commission thanked Commissioner Drennen for all the work he put in to revising the Plan. 9. Public Comment Regarding Items Specifically Relating to Waterford Shellfish Business 10.
