Call to order: Chairlady Sanders called the Waterford Senior Commission
Zoom meeting to order at 4:04 p.m.
Establish a quorum: A quorum was established.
Public Comment: No public comment.
Approval of the Meeting Minutes of December 7, 2021. Chairlady Sanders askéd for
additions, deletions, or corrections to the minutes.
MOTION: Motion made by Anita Collins, seconded by Anne Darling to
approve the meeting minutes as presented.
VOTE: 7-0-0
Approval of the Meeting Minutes of December 15, 2021, Chairlady Sanders asked
for additions, deletions, or corrections to the minutes.
MOTION: - Motion made by Rev. James Johnson, seconded by Anne Darling
to approve the meeting minutes as presented.
VOTE: 5-0-2 (Dina Lopes & Kathleen McNamara abstained)

Committee Reports
a. Budget — The budget will be presented to the Board of Selectmen on
Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 5 p.m. at the Town Hall
b. Nominating Committee —- Commission members terms that are up for renewal
this April are Rev. James Johnson, Kathleen McNamara and Joyce Vlaun. Letters
for reappointment will be prepared.
c. Transportation Sub-Committee — no report.
d. Planned giving Sub-Committee ~ Discussion regarding the Endowment Fund with
the Strategic Planning Committee - Members on the Commission that are
interested in being on the committee are Rev. James Johnson, Anne Darling,
Joyce Viaun, Carol Sanders and Anita Collins.
Director/Assistant Director Report for December 2021 and January 2022 (see
attached) Highlights included:
The Community Center is open and activities are continuing while some centers are
cancelling activities and in-person events. The Lunch and Learn for tomorrow has
over 32 registrants. We are currently taking energy appointments. On 1/20/22 we
held a virtual Caregiver Support class for those dealing with caring for a family
member with Alzheimer’s/Memory Loss, 13 people attended and more expressed
interest via email for a support group for caregivers and the return of Open Doors.
There was a discussion on programs, attendance and strategic planning. Lisa
Cappuccio, the director, informed the Commission that the First Selectman had
informed her during a meeting that the Town was creating a Human Services
department that would include Youth and Family Services and Senior Services. A
discussion followed, A request will be made to the First Selectman to attend our
next Commission meeting to hear details. Lisa also informed the Commission that
she has tendered her resignation to the First Selectman effective early July. A
discussion followed.
New Business — Long term program planning — Strategic Planning —Tabled
After a discussion regarding the Human Services department; it was decided to table
this until more details become available.

MOTION: Anne Darling moved to adjourn the January 25, 2022 Regular
Meeting of the Senior Citizens Commission at 4:58 p.m.,
Seconded by Kathleen McNamara.
Motion passed.
