     Waterford-East Lyme Shellfish Commission

                                                  Meeting Minutes
                                       Thursday, May 16, 2024

                                     East Lyme Town Hall, 7:00 pm


      Members present:  Peter Harris, Paul Spakowski, Rick Kanter, Fred
      Wise, Larry Tytla, and Tom Bowlen
      Members absent: Marcia Benvenuti, J Patrick Kelly
      Guests: Chief Warden Chmiel

   1) The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm and a quorum established.

   2)  Review and approval of previous meeting minutes:
           Apr 18, 2024 Regular Meeting minutes approved on a motion by Mr.
           Spakowski, seconded by Mr. Wise, vote 6-0.


   3) Review and approval of treasurer’s report
           Commission  reviewed  the  Treasurer’s  report  sent  by  e-mail
           earlier.  Report was approved on  a  motion  by  Mr.  Spakowski,
           seconded by Mr. Bowlen, vote
            6-0.


         4) Chief Warden’s Comments : Chief Warden Chmiel gave his report to
            the commission.  The Niantic River closed to shellfishing on  16
            May due to rainfall.


   5) Old business:  No new business was presented

   6) New Business
           Mr. Wise will inquire  about  oyster,  clam,  and  scallop  seed
           availability from previous contacts.
           .


   7) Ex-Officio comments : Ex-officio Mackenzie was unable to attend the
      meeting.

   8) Correspondence : No correspondence was presented.



   9) Public Comment : No public comment


  10)  Adjournment : Meeting adjourned at 7:23 pm on a motion by Mr.
      Spakowski, seconded by Mr. Tytla, motion approved 6-0.
