Waterford Senior Citizen Commission Meeting Tuesday, February 25, 2025 Present: Joyce Vlaun (Chairman), Rick Beaney, Anne Darling (via Zoom 4:34), Dina Lopes (via Zoom), Dan Rissi, Susan Marelli, Tom Kennedy Also Present: Dani Gorman (Human Services Administration, Terry Wheeler (Assistant Director Senior Services), Heidi McSwain (Human Services Coordinator) Absent: Richard Muckle (Selectman Liaison) I. Call to Order: Meeting was called to order at 4:04pm II. Establish a Quorum: Quorum was established III. Public Comment: No public comment IV. Approval of the minutes of the January 28, 2025 Commission Meeting: Dan Rissi made a motion to accept the minutes from the January 28, 2025 Commission Meeting, Rick Beaney seconded the motion. Motion passed (6-1-0) V. Correspondence: No correspondence VI. Committee Reports: a. Budget: Commission was notified that budget was passed by BOS without changes. Budget will move on next to Board of Finance b. Nomination Committee: Commission members up for reappointment have all shown interest and letters have been submitted. c. Planned Giving Sub-Committee: commission was informed of two seniors who were helped through the assistance of the Endowment Fund. d. Transportation Sub-Committee: commission was told that new full time driver would begin in March. e. Policies Ad Hoc Committee: Motion was made by Dina Lopes to accept the Waterford Senior Citizen Guidelines as updated as of January 2025. Dan Rissi seconded motion. Motion was passed (6-1-0) VII. Director/Assistant Director Report for January 2025: Dani Gorman reported that the Media Room construction was in progress, discussion followed. Gorman also let the commission know that the opening ceremony for Media Room will be in July. Gorman stated that office was working on a Desk Audit for the DOT 5310 Grant. Terry Wheeler stated that she was working on the next addition of The Loop that will be out in March with spring activities. Thanks was given to Rick Beaney for all his hard work and dedication in the kitchen as Kitchen Manager. VIII. New Business: Discussion on Yale New Haven Health no longer offering the nurses program for FY26. Dani Gorman asked commission to consider continuing nurses programs as Senior Services Program, discussion followed. IX. Adjournment: Rick Beaney made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 4:54pm.
