1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Furey- Wagner called the meeting to order at 5:03 pm.
2. APPROVAL OF THE MEETING MINUTES April 24, 2024
MOTION: Motion made by Committee Member Waggoner seconded by Committee
Member Sugrue, to approve the April 24, 2024 meeting minutes.
VOTE: 3-0-0
3. UPDATE ON CIVIC TRIANGLE PROJECT
Mr. Mullen stated that the wetlands area at the southwest corner of the pond will be planted.
by a professional landscaper under the guidance of a professional wetlands soil scientist
(TBD). He then stated that walkways from the foot bridge at the southwestern corner of the
site and the boardwalk at the southeastern side of the side of the site have been installed. The
stone wall along Rope Ferry Road will be capped to provide seating. The playground area
will remain closed until the electrical service is updated. Eversource will be installing a new
pole and run power over Boston Post Road. Once complete, power will also be restored to
the pond fountains, recirculating pumps and aerators. Hydro-seeding at the pond needs to be
completed. The large pile of soil at the west side of the site will be used to regrade the
southeast corner. A permit application has been submitted and approved by the State of
Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) for the streetlights and trees along State
road Route 156. The town is waiting for the CTDOT to issue the permit. Mr. Mullen
expects the project to be finished on July 1“ and a ribbon cutting is planned for August 9",
4. GARBAGE AND RECYCLING BINS — Review additional options and select bins
Mr. Mullen and Ryan McNamara, Director of Recreation selected six additional
garbage/recycling bin options (see attached). The Committee studied the options, researched
specific details on-line and consulted with Mr. McNamara by phone at 5:40 pm. Mr.
McNamara said the size is to be a consideration but the town will be monitoring the bins
through the week and weekend to avoid overfilling. The goal of the Committee was to select
a bin that would meet the requirements set at the previous meeting. They should be:
standardized and esthetically attractive, look natural, be a reasonable cost, have side door
access, be covered on top, have adequate capacity and have clear labeling for trash and
recycling. Option 3 and 4 met the committee’s criteria. The Committee agreed Option 3 has
a more transitional style and compliments the benches already selected, has the largest
capacity, is less expensive than the original selection and are the most esthetically pleasing to
them.

Waggoner to select the Adirondack Double Recycling & Waste Station (Option
#3).
