PHONE: 860-442-0553 FIFTEEN ROPE FERRY ROAD www. walerfordct.org WATERFORD, CT 06385-2886 Public Protection & Safety Standing Committee of the Waterford RTM Meeting Minutes Monday, March 2", 2020 6:00PM Waterford Town Hall Meeting Called to order at 6:00 PM by Chairperson Timothy Condon Roll Call Present: Timothy Condon, Baird Welch-Collins, Susan Driscoll, Richard Muckle (6:12} ’ Absent: April Cairns i" Others Present: Joyce Sauchuk, Robert Brule, Elieen Duggan, Robert Avena : Agenda Item 3- To Consider and act upon the minutes of the October 7", 2019 meeting. Motion made by Condon, Second by Welch Collins to accept the minutes. Vote: Favor- Condon Against- None Abstained- Welch-Collins, Driscoll Motion passed. Public Comment Kathie Cassidy, John Mariano, Don Chapman Agenda Item 5- Consideration of and possible action on items referred to committee: A. Review of Fire Services Brief discussion held about the status of the review of fire services. Committee felt that the work that could be completed via ordinance has been completed and thus should be reported out to the body of the RTM. Fire house agreements were next to be addressed by the First Selectman. Motion by Driscoll Second by Welch-Collins to report out the Review of Fire Services to the body of the RTM with no further action necessary at this time. Vote: Unanimous B. Review/Enactment of a Stipend Program for Volunteer Firefighters. Discussion held on various types of programs available to the Town to explore, unfortunately Director Miller was on vacation and could not participate. First Selectman Brule spoke about the importance of getting a program started. Committee spoke about getting Human Resources along with the Director and Legal to design a draft for the Committee to review. Motion by Driscoll Second by Welch-Collins to have Human Resources, Director Miller along with Labor Council to deliver options and a first draft of possible programs to the Public Protection and Safety Committee at its next meeting to be scheduled April 6" 2020 at 5:30 pm. Vote: Unanimous Motion to adjourn by Weich-Collins, second by Muckie. Vote: Unanimous Meeting adjourned at 6:20 PM Respectfully submitted Timothy Condon
