Waterford Senior Citizen’s Commission  
Meeting 
Tuesday, August 26, 2025 
 
Present: Joyce Vlaun (Chairperson), Rick Beany, Cathy Gonyo, Dina Lopes, Marilyn Lusher, 
Susan Marelli  
 
Also Present: Dani Gorman (Human Services Administrator), Heidi McSwain (Human Services 
Coordinator), Mindy Stone (Senior Services Enrollment Clerk)  
 
Absent: Anne Darling, Dan Rissi, Terry Wheeler (Assistant Director Senior Services), Tom 
Kennedy (Senior Services Liaison), Richard Muckle (Selectman Liaison)  
 
I. 
Call to Order: Meeting was called to order at 4:02pm  
 
II. 
Establish a Quorum: Quorum was established 
 
 
III. 
Public Comment: No public comment 
 
IV. 
Approval of the minutes of the June 24, 2025 Commission meeting: Motion made by 
Dina Lopes to approve the minutes of the June 24, 2025 Commission Meeting, 
Marilyn Lusher seconded the motion. Motion passed.  
 
 
V. 
Correspondence: Commission presented with a Thank You letter on behalf of the 
Ryan Family for the dedication of the Pat Ryan Media Room. Letter regarding 
Madeline Bernstein Trust presented to the commission.  
 
VI. 
Committee Reports: Committee appointments made by commissioners  
a. Budget Committee: None  
b. Nomination Committee: None  
c. Planned Giving Sub-Committee: Discussion followed regarding Community 
Foundation reports.  
d. Transportation Sub-Committee: Discussion regarding new transportation 
program concentrating on route guidance and efficiency.  
e. Policies Ad Hoc Committee: None  
 
VII. 
Director/Assistant Director Report for June & July 2025: Dani Gorman reported that 
the latest edition of the Loop is coming out. A new yoga instructor hired for fall 
sessions. Gorman stated that Heidi and Mindy executed the Renters Rebate program 
for qualifying residents and would be starting the Energy Assistance program for 
qualifying residents. Gorman briefed that two-jobs posting were posted. Gorman 
reported that Waterford Cares Team has remained busy with Human Services and 

Social Services cases, many referrals coming from Ambulance and Police 
Departments. Motion made by Cathy Gonyo to accept the Directors and Assistant 
Directors Report, Marilyn Lusher seconded the motion. Motion passed.  
 
VIII. 
New Business: Meeting dates for calendar year 2026 discussed. Dani Gorman 
presented to the commission report on podiatry clinic, discussion followed.  Motion 
made by Cathy Gonyo to discuss accepting the podiatrist from November 2025 to 
June 2026 with clients paying a reduced rate. Motion seconded by Marilyn Lusher. 
Motion passed.  
 
 
IX. 
Adjournment: Motion made by Cathy Gonyo the meeting at 5:05pm Marilyn Lusher 
seconded the motion. Motion passed
